Many children with low muscle tone and muscle weakness need bite and chew activities. Before you start to practice on food use a safe method - lateral biting on the BABY Grabber®. Remember that your child need the the tongue to move bilaterally to efficient chewing. That is why Grabber® is one of the most wanted chewy tool during the first year of your kids life!
At approximately 5-6 months, babies start mouthing and chewing in order to strengthen oral muscles and organize work of their jaw, lips and tongue. This "mouthing" period prepares them to eat solid foods and to make speech sounds later on. Soft Baby Grabber® is a safe chew tool for babies to develop these skills. It can also assist in self-organization, in the transition from puréed to textured foods, and in soothing sore gums.
NEW AND IMPROVED: it's smooth on one half and textured on the other half for varying sensory input and tactile stimulation to the gums and mouth. For orally sensitive little ones - start by presenting the smooth half and eventually progress to the textured half.
Highly recommended for any babies in the mouthing stage, but particularly those with hypersensitivity and oral sensory defensiveness. Measures approximately 4 inches in length and just under 2 inches across the loop.
Not recommended for aggressive chewing.
The light blue, yellow, and pink Baby Grabbers are soft and chewy. The turquoise Baby Grabber is firmer yet still chewy and pliable. Teething babies may prefer the firmer option, as it provides added resistance and input to the gums.
ARK's Baby Grabber is recommended for children up to the age of 2 and a half years. After that, children should graduate to the regular Grabbers or Y-Chews.
ARK manufactures the Grabber® in the USA! It's medical grade, FDA compliant, and contains no lead, phthalates, PVC, BPA, or latex. It's also molded out of one solid piece of material with no holes or crevices that could harbor saliva or bacteria.
Caution: although these chew tools are sturdy and durable, no chew tool is indestructible. Some individuals (particularly those with heavy oral needs and aggressive biting/chewing) may be able to damage the tools. Please supervise at all times and replace if necessary when the item shows signs of wear and tear.
